Self-Funded or Insured?

There are two main ways you can access our services depending on whether you self-fund your care or have private medical insurance.

We provide clear and transparent quotes if you are self-funding. We will also support your journey if you have medical insurance, or you care is being supported by a foreign embassy or corporate policy.

If you would like to access any of our services or to be seen by a consultant please request an appointment or contact any of our heart clinics directly.

Self-Funded Patients

  • If you don’t have health insurance, you don’t have to wait for treatment. Regent’s Park Healthcare offers fast access to treatment for a range of heart conditions.

  • We welcome patients choosing to pay for their own treatments, who might not have private medical insurance or wish to avoid long waiting lists elsewhere.

  • Most of the treatments and other services we offer have little or no waiting time, making it more convenient for you. We provide the highest standards of consultant-led care – nothing less than you’d expect – so you can be back to normal and get on with life as quickly as possible.

  • As a self-pay patient, you will have access to leading heart experts and other specialists to help you every step of the way. We’ll aim to get you an appointment with the right consultant within 48 hours of your enquiry. Some consultants will require a GP referral, but we can assist with this too. If in doubt on whether you require a referral letter, do give the clinic of your choice a ring and they will be more than happy to explain the process.

  • For most patients, the cost of your treatment can be ‘fixed’, giving you peace of mind and transparency of cost. These costs are subject to regular review to ensure cost-effective care. We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash and cheques (cheques must be cleared prior to admission).

  • We can also provide interest free medical loans for certain types of procedures, subject to our terms and conditions.

Why choose to pay for your care?

  • You want to choose consultant-led personalised care

  • You do not want to wait for a diagnosis or treatment

  • You want to choose an appointment time convenient for you

  • You want to access procedures not always available on the NHS

Frequently asked questions

What should I do next?
If your GP has issued a referral letter and you would like to see a consultant at one of our heart clinics, please contact the clinic directly.

Alternatively, if you do not have a specific consultant in mind, please either contact the clinic who will guide you towards an appropriate consultant.

What if I have an outpatient appointment?
Please contact the self-pay department prior to your outpatient appointment to obtain the clinic costs for any tests you may require. All self-funding outpatient appointments are payable in advance or on the day of treatment. If you are having a consultation only, you will be charged for this payment by us on behalf of the consultant. Any tests you undergo are payable to the heart clinic and are separate from the consultant’s fees. If you are covered by private medical insurance, please see the tab below for further information.

How do I pay for my treatment?
The total cost of your treatment is payable before or on admission. We ask you to settle your account in advance by contacting the finance department at your clinic. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, bank transfer or credit/debit card.
If you wish to pay by bank transfer, the money must have cleared and show on your clinic account prior to admission. If your admission is imminent then you must provide proof of the transfer, in English, on your admission. Failure to provide this may delay your admission.

Patients with Private Medical Insurance

  • If you are covered by private medical insurance, please ensure that you have contacted your insurance company prior to your admission.

  • We require your policy number, as well as a claim number authorising your treatment.

  • In some instances, we require a letter of guarantee from your insurance stating they are covering the costs.

  • It is vital that you confirm cover before you commit yourself to treatment.

  • Full insurance details must be given to the clinic registration staff at or before the time of admission for direct settlement.

  • While the clinic will invoice your insurance company directly, it is your responsibility to ensure that claims are processed promptly.

  • Should insurers, sponsors or guarantors decline or delay payment, you will be invoiced for immediate settlement.

  • Please also be aware you are responsible should there be any financial shortfall between what your insurer has agreed and your final invoice.
