About Dr Pugh
Dr Pugh was appointed a Consultant Cardiologist in 2008 and was awarded membership of the Medical Advisory Committee of Cambridge Heart Clinic in 2008.
He is Clinical Director of Cardiology at Cambridge University Hospitals and also the Clinical Director of Cambridge Heart Clinic and Chairman of the Cambridge Heart Clinic Medical Advisory Committee.

Following undergraduate training at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School, London, Dr Pugh trained in cardiology at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.
​
He undertook research into heart failure at the University of Sheffield, and a Cardiovascular Fellowship at the University of Cape Town. He was awarded a Travelling Fellowship by the European Heart Rhythm Association, to study complex pacing.
He was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 2008, specifically to take forward the pacemaker and devices service.

Specialist clinical interests
His main areas of expertise are in biventricular pacing and device therapy for heart failure and arrhythmia, in which he has extensive experience.
Pacemakers and Defibrillators. Heart Failure. Syncope. Angina.

Research interests
Clinical and laboratory trials of treatments for heart failure. Peer-reviewed papers on heart failure and myocardial infarction. Two book chapters.
