Regent’s Park appoints Dr. Peter Schofield as its Clinical Director

LONDON, United Kingdom, 14 December, 2009: Regent’s Park Heart Clinics Ltd. (Regent’s Park), an independent healthcare company specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, today announced it has appointed Dr. Peter Schofield as its Clinical Director.


Dr. Schofield is currently a Consultant Cardiologist at Addenbrookes & Papworth Hospitals, Cambridge. He was appointed a Consultant Cardiologist in 1989 and is currently the Clinical Chairman of the Anglia Cardiac Network.  The network is responsible for the strategic direction and provision of cardiac services within Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Dr. Schofield holds a National Clinical Excellence Award – currently level 10. His subspecialty interest is in percutaneous coronary intervention procedures. His experience in this area covers some 25 years of practice. In recent years, he has carried out up to 750 procedures per year with a success rate of greater than 98%.

Dr. Schofield has published over 150 research papers in peer reviewed journals.  He has also written 5 books on cardiovascular disease. His major research interest over the years has been the evaluation of new technologies in the cardiovascular field.  Most of this work has been published in peer reviewed journals. As a result of this, many techniques have now been incorporated into routine clinical practice.

Dr. Schofield was the Secretary of the British Cardiac Society (BCS) for a period of 4 years and has been a Council Member of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.
