Regent’s Park to open the ‘Cambridge Heart Clinic’

LONDON, United Kingdom, 4 July, 2008: Regent’s Park Heart Clinics Ltd. (Regent’s Park), an independent healthcare company specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, today announced it has entered into a partnership to develop a specialist heart clinic on the grounds of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

The partnership will lead to the development of a dedicated private patient cardiology centre within Addenbrooke’s Hospital, to be called “The Cambridge Heart Clinic”. The heart clinic will be operated by Regent’s Park and will initially provide a comprehensive range of outpatient based investigations such as screening, electrocardiography, echocardiography and stress tests, as well as invasive cardiac procedures such as angiography and pacemaker insertion. Over time the heart clinic will migrate to providing percutaneous coronary intervention and cardiac electrophysiology services.

“We are extremely pleased to be entering this long-term partnership with the world-famous Addenbrooke’s Hospital,” says Dr. Ohri, Chief Executive Officer of Regent’s Park. “This reflects our largest venture with an NHS Trust since we announced our intention to partner with NHS providers to make our cardiovascular expertise available in a host of different partnership arrangements. It is the first of a series of heart clinics in our development pipeline, and is therefore an important step forward for Regent’s Park.”

He added, “we are particularly excited about working more closely with Addenbrooke’s cardiologists and the Trust to help bring their experience and expertise to assist us in implementing clinical improvements, marketing initiatives and operating efficiencies. It will mean that private patients are assured of a first-class patient experience in a safe, high-quality environment. It also means that the Trust can re-invest surplus monies back into NHS patient care. We view this type of arrangement as important to our joint success.”

The Cambridge Heart Clinic is scheduled to open in late October 2008. Regent’s Park is an independent company dedicated to creating world-class centres for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
