Dr Peter Pugh

Clinical Director, Cambridge Heart Clinic

Dr Peter Pugh was appointed Clinical Director at Cambridge Heart Clinic (CHC) in 2015. He is also Chairman of the Cambridge Heart Clinic Medical Advisory Committee.


CHC is an operating company of Regent’s Park and a formal partnership with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. CHC has been operating since 2008.


Dr Pugh holds the position of Consultant Cardiologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He has been Clinical Director for Cardiology at Addenbrooke’s since 2015.


Following undergraduate training at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School, London, Dr. Pugh trained in cardiology at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. He undertook research into heart failure at the University of Sheffield, and a Cardiovascular Fellowship at the University of Cape Town.

He was awarded a Travelling Fellowship by the European Heart Rhythm Association, to study complex pacing.


Dr Pugh’s main areas of expertise are in biventricular pacing and device therapy for heart failure and arrhythmia, in which he has extensive experience.
